START IN THE YEAR SURF 1958
Mario Arturo Salazar Zúñiga, born November 11, 1947 in San José, lives in Brasil de Mora in Ciudad Colon, known in Surfing as “Polaco”, began trying to surf in 1958 in San Isidro of Puntarenas, then later in 1967 in la Boca de Barranca. The idea to go surfing was because in the 50s there was a documentary about astronauts. A scientist spoke about the capsules and that it would be good to utilize surfing for equilibrium, balance, coordination and physical fitness.

Around 1992 a “Gringo” arrived in Costa Rica, who wanted to set up a Sea Kayaking business in Manuel Antonio.
Steven or Steve and his family partnered with the friends of ¨Rios Tropicales¨, and brought to the country a flotilla of “SIT ON TOP” kayaks. These Ocean Kayak brand kayaks were new to the market and designed by someone who later became a friend- Tim Nimier.

He was born on December 11, 1942, in Manhattan New York, son of Julian and Clare Kaye, Mr. Michael is 76 years old. He tells us that he started practicing Rafting in 1969 in American Rivas California, he learned to Kayake before rafting in 1967.
