Is located 5 Km to the north of Playa Avellanas. It has black sands and corral, with an extension of approximately 2Km that is great to bathe and surf with waves up to 3 meters high, with hotels and cabins, restaurants, Surf Shop, bakery, patisserie, horseback tours, sports fishing, internet access and public telephone.
How to get Here?
This beach is located 5 kilometers north from Playa Avellanas. The road is not paved and during the rainy season it is recommendable to use a 4 x 4.
You have will need to arrive at Santa Cruz and take the bus that goes to Playa Negra. Transporte Pinilla Ph + (506) 2658-8231, bus station in Santa Cruz at the Municipal Market. Schedule: leaves 06:00 p.m, arrives at Playa Negra on Thursdays and Fridays. The bus to Playa Negra leaves at 11:30 a.m. It costs 1.50 US$.

Playa Negra is a black sand surf beach in the town of Los Pargos, in the Guanacaste Province of Costa Rica. The marvelous beach has become a popular attraction for tourists due to its surfing opportunities. Pargos Adventures is operated by Javier Quiros, a professional surfer, who ensures that travelers have a safe and fun experience. The surf lessons at Pargos Adventures Day Tours are conducted on Playa Negra where students are grouped and taught according to their skills. Beginners are first given a theory session about the basics of surfing, ocean safety, surf etiquette followed by practical lessons in the water. Intermediates and veterans get to learn new moves and improve their skills. The lessons are instructed by professional surf teachers who give each student personalized attention and ensure that they learn thoroughly and enjoy the lessons at the same time. Classes can be held in groups or privately. Charges for private lessons are higher than group lessons but they are perfect for surfers who wish to learn something particular.
