The meaning of the word Paradise is perfect for describing the white sands of Nosara. It is surprising to find so much beauty in just one place. It seems as if time has stood still here. The simplicity of life and the hospitality of its inhabitants make you appreciate how special Nosara really is. It is located on the northeast of the Nicoya Peninsula, on the Guanacaste coast. The beaches are protected by the Ostional National Refuge for Wildlife, Tourism here is regulated, and the numbers of hotels here are limited and are located behind the protected area; so that they do not disturb the existing natural balance. The village of Nosara Airport is located 5 km from the beach; where there are small stores and a gas station. There are three beaches: in the south Guiones, a long strip of white sand with corral, Pelada Beach, beautiful, quiet, white sands and the best waters to go scuba diving; Nosara, to the north of the river and is preferred by surfers. Located 55 km to the Southeast of Nicoya and 266 km to the west of the capital San José. You arrive here via the highway from Samara. Playa Nosara is next to Playa Guiones, Playa Pelada and Playa Ostional which makes up the Refugio de Vida Salvaje Ostional, where every year hundreds of thousands of sea turtles come to lay thier eggs. Playa Nosara falls in the delta where Rió Nosara and the Rió Montana meet, it extendí to the north from Punta Nosara, this beach offers a large variety of fauna and flora and has magroves. The sunsets are beautiful here as Playa Nosara offers spectacular panoramic views to enjoy. In the tropical rainforest you can see a large variety of animals and birds making it a beach with one of the most varied ecological environments in Costa Rica.

How to arrive
Approximately 6 hours from San José-Puente La Amistad Tempisque-Nicoya-Nosara. The 35 km dirt road that joins Nosara and Nicoya via Guastomatal is transitable in a 4X4. The majority of drivers take the paved road that go from Nicoya to the village of Sámara Beach. You will need to take a turnoff 5 km before you arrive at Sámara after you the gas station. The last 25 km to Nosara is paved and you will need to cross rivers, it is route that buses use. It is possible to the north, passing by Ostional, to Paraíso and Junquillal, where you will have to cross streams: in the rainy season a 4X4 is necessary. It is advisable to fill your tank in Nicoya, but they also sell gas in Nosara.

There is a bus service leaving everyday from the main terminal in Nicoya 01:00 p.m, returning at 6:00 p.m. The journey lasts 2 ½ hours.
