Flamingo Beach

Flamingo Beach

4 km to the north of Brasilito. It is the cleanest beach with the whitest sands in Costa Rica It is approximately 1km long. If you look towards the west these Islands are the Catalina Islands, which are incredible for sports fishing and snorkeling. Flamingo was originally called “Blanca Beach”; it was the famous Hollywood producer George Howard who gave it its present name.  He bought property in Flamingo with the idea that it was a place of rest for the wealthy and famous from Hollywood. Still today Flamingo respects the privacy  of the residents on the south coast and for this reason the north coast has developed at a quicker rate with new and modern houses and condominiums The north side also has restaurants, hotels, and a great night life. Here is where the marina is located which boasts thirty world records in sports fishing (the marina is in the process of re-opening). As well as the popularity of Flamingo beach, activities such as scuba diving, kayaking, jet skiing, cruises, or horse rides are some of the attractions in the area.  Recently snorkeling in the Flamingo area has been recognized as one of the ten best in two different categories.
