It is located to the northeast of the Tilarán cordillera from Costa Rica and it has an extension of 22.500 hectares, which is home to: primary and secondary rainforest and areas which are being regenerated. Three types of rainforest are categorized: the evergreen: the cloudy and the non seasonal rainy. 60 species amphibians have been registered here, 101 reptiles, 425 birds, 121 species of mammals. This makes up a total of 707 species of land vertebrates, which represent 50.5% of the total of species in Costa Rica. 3.5 Km of footpaths, with an elevation of 1.020 and 1.350 meters in height. Of the species of trees and plants in Bajo del Tigre, 30 of them in the area of Monteverde are newly discovered. Offering, maps and a self guide, information center, gift store, interactive games room for children and a greenhouse with native plants.
El Cerro Amigos. At 1.842 meters above sea level. It is a free footpath. Offering a good view of the rainforest and Arenal Volcano, 20 Km to the northeast. The route begins behind the Hotel Belmar in Monteverde, and is 3 Km long, ascending up to 300 meters, from the establishment, you have to take the footpath that goes down and then the following footpath to the left.
