The waters of the río Térraba flow into the Pacific Ocean on the southeast coast of Costa Rica close to Tortuga beach. In the delta area, the tropical rainforest reaches the sea, creating mangroves. This strange environment is a natural habitat for monkeys, birds, reptiles, crocodiles and many other exotic species. A boat trip will give you the opportunity to explore this isolated area that is not very well known. The trip takes you to Tortuga beach, Boca Coronado, Embarcadero Térraba, on the southbound Costanera highway 32 km to the south of Dominical. It has a car park for buses, and a reception committee for the trip. Scheduled, organized trips through the southern mangroves, depending on the circumstances, the journey can last 3 hours. Shorter excursions are available if you ask and make a reservation. Tariffs are 35 US$ per person, includes drinks. Free for children younger than 3 years of age. Also available for private hire with a tariff of 200 US$ for the first hour, 150 US$ the second and 100 US$ every extra hour.
