It is place 38km to the south of Quepos which you get to on the highway known as the Costanera Sur. The beach is long and quiet, with perfect waves for surfing. There is an information office before you get to the beach, a public telephone, grocery stores, hotels restaurants, cabins, Internet, camping, horses for hire and much more. To the north and to the south of Matapalo are the beaches of Savegre y Barú, both are beautiful and not busy. Visit them during low tide, on the main road, at the Express Delí del Pacífico sign, you’ll need to turnoff the main road to the beach. The gravel road is in good condition and you will need to cross over several concrete bridges.

Surfing in Matapalo Beach
70) MATAPALO BEACH:
This is a very large beach approximately 20 kilometers long; however, there are good right and left peaks. You will surf by your self here, because this is a very secluded area, away from facilities. Access: By land. Tide: Medium and high. Swells: South and Northwest. Bottom: Sand. Feet: 2 to10. Season: All year. Stars: 3.
