Historical Marine Museum of Puntarenas

The museum, founded in 1992,   is located in a building with patrimonial history; it was first located in the Plaza of Comandancia and then the Prison of the city.  Later on in 1997 the exhibition was transferred to the Casa de la Cultura de Puntarenas. In 2001 it was opened to the public as a program of the National Museum of Costa Rica. Location: The old Building of the Comandancia de Plaza. Opening Times: Open from Monday to Sunday, from 9:45 a.m. to 12:00 m.d and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Closed on Mondays.

Pacific Marine Park

Open everyday from 8:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. The Marine Park is located in the city of Puntarenas with an extension of 3 hectares, they have the following areas: Information about marine life, in 28 fish tanks they show 50 species of with the largest diversity and are the most representative of the bio diversity of the Costa Rican Pacific, including marine fauna from Coco Island.
